Shiney Advice & Resource Project

 

 

 

 

ShARP will promote community development values and commitments in all of its advice and education work in the Houghton le Spring area of Tyne & Wear. These are;

 

  • Community development is about building active and sustainable communities based upon social justice and mutual respect.

  • Community development is about changing power structures to remove the barriers that prevent people from participating in the issues that affect their lives.

 

ShARP believes in a community development approach to regeneration or service delivery;

 

  • Creates sustainable outcomes

  • Creates holistic, joined up outcomes

  • Reduces dependency culture

  • Reduces social welfare costs

  • Builds active citizenship

  • Challenges inequality.

  • Promotes inclusion

  • Deals constructively with conflict

  • Builds personal capacity and confidence
